COCO MONTOYA
plus
CHANTEL McGREGOR
SUNDAY 7th
March 2010
|
![]() "Blistering contemporary blues...piercing attack, funky, shivery guitar tones and aggressive, soulful vocals" -Blues Revue "In a world of blues guitar pretenders, Coco Montoya is the real McCoy. Be prepared to get scorched."-Billboard Over the course of his 30-year career, guitarist and vocalist Coco Montoya's explosive guitar playing and soul-driven voice have propelled him to the upper reaches of the blues-rock world. John Mayall happened to catch Montoya at a jam session and was blown away. This led to Montoya's touring the world for ten years with the legendary Bluesbreakers. Since stepping out as a bandleader in 1993, Montoya has released four solo albums and has performed non-stop at clubs, concert halls and major festivals all over the world. At every show, fans' jaws dropped, and critics raved about Montoya's mind-bending guitar licks and impassioned vocals. "The fiery blues that issue forth from Coco Montoya's guitar are awe-inspiring and boogie requiring," shouted The Village Voice. "Blistering, pure blues," cheered Blues Revue. Now, with Can't Look Back (AL 4885), Montoya turns up the intensity with another dose of his feral, soul-stirring music.
In October Chantel performed at Wilbarston and totally stunned the audience with her fantastic performance so we are thrilled to have her back as soon as possible.
Realising at an early age that if you picked up a
guitar you got attention, especially from her dad whose guitar it usually
was, it was inevitable that she would get one of her own. So at the ripe old
age of three, she got her first guitar, a half size acoustic. |

DANNY
BRYANT'S
|
CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE AUGUST “Establishing yourself as a blues guitarist when you're under the age of 30 is some feat. Doing it on the back of your own songs rather than tried and trusted blues standards makes it even sweeter” GUITAR MAGAZINE "So few guitar prodigies ever amount to anything, but this Herts-born guitarist, now in his late ‘20s delivers impassioned blues rock of a top-notch calibre that justifies his ever-growing reputation" THE TIMES - INDIA "The passion dripping from every chord strung deep and hard by Danny evokes as much love in you as do the lyrics – you feel every emotion that Danny’s words exude" |

MAGGIE BELL |
![]() When Maggie Bell's group Stone The Crows broke up in 1973 it was time for Britain's finest female singer to launch her solo career. Since her earliest days in Glasgow, the Scots lass with the soulful voice had been impressing audiences with her powerful and passionate style. In 2007 Scottish rock and soul diva Maggie Bell joined forces with The Blues Band’s vocalist and slide guitar wizard Dave Kelly for some acoustic duo shows. They’ve had great success on these tours and even more fun. They now wish to put it all together in a band format with The British Blues Quartet. Maggie Bell (vocals) formed Stone The Crows in the
sixties, had a solo career on both sides of the Atlantic. THE GOOD TIMES WILL CERTAINLY ROLL – a great band with big reputations and fabulous voices. A review of soul, blues & classics with some thumping rock ‘n’ roll thrown in. |

WALTER TROUT |
"Walter Trout isn't just a great guitar player...he works from the heart with a flawless and fiery edge. When Walter Trout plays, he owns you." David Wilson/The ToneQuest Report. Stylistically hard to pigeonhole - - Is Trout's music too blues for rock - or too rock for blues? -- to label Walter Trout's music is to limit it. With more than 35 years of touring and recording under his belt, this New Jersey native has been "loved and hated, accused and vindicated, packaged and presented for everyone to see," as his autobiographical song ‘Welcome To The Human Race' details. Whether an improvisational jam or a carefully arranged song, Walter Trout's thirst for musical satisfaction is seemingly unquenchable. Equally capable of spontaneous serendipity as well as pre-planned perfection, this guitarist is truly in the midst of an all-encompassing love affair with the music he creates.
plus BLUE ON BLACK were formed in June of 2001, this three-piece outfit has fast won audiences and venues over to their style of Weapons Grade Blues/Rock. Comprising of Keith (guitar & vocals), Paul (bass) and Clive (drums & vocals). A true power trio, they play with a power, passion and commitment that captures the true nature of their chosen music. With a powerful mixture of original and classic material, the Band delivers with the commitment and professionalism that has been earnt from many years touring the Blues, R&B and Rock circuits. The Band considers it essential that the soul of the music is conveyed to their audience with excitement and are never happier than when playing live. Fast or Slow, Loud or Quiet, if you like your Rock tinged with the Passion of the Blues and played with that honest energy that can only come from people who love their music, you will not be disappointed with Blue on Black. |
